Halenshire Hoopla: The Harpers told us that undead are amassing outside of the village of Halenshire near Waterdeep and this needs to be investigated.
Loralyn Wintersong: Inflicted with wolf lycanthropy she asked for our help to find a cure at Icespire Peak to find the herb wolfsbane. She has taken a liking to Yue and told her that she has about 2-3 weeks that she think she can still control herself in wolf form and only she currently knows this.
Rockseeker Recovery: Find Thardin and Nundro, the brothers of Gundren Rockseeker. Update: Thardin was found dead at the Rockseeker campsite at the entrance of wave echo cave. Nundro was found and rescued.
Spider Exterminator: A doppleganger we captured at Cragmaw Castle and questioned told us that the Black Spider is a female drow and is at Wave Echo Cave where she is trying to resurrect the evil spider god Lolth. We killed the black spider, but the devil she summonded got away.
Daren’s Quest: Daren Edermath we had met earlier in his cottage by the Phandalin orchard: “Daran: there are stories from prospectors in the hills northeast of Phandalin that someone is digging around in the ruins known as Old Owl Well. More disturbingly, several prospectors visiting the ruins, a couple days march reported being chased from the area by undead northeast of Phandalin. The ruins are an old watchtower of an ancient magical empire known as Netheril, and dangerous magic might be dormant there.” He paid us 100 gp.
Rescue Gundren: The party got information that Gundren was taken to Cragmaw Keep. They must figure out the location of this Castle to be able to rescue their Patron. Sildar suggested their might be clues in Phandalin. The party rescued Gundren and returned him to Phandalin just in time for an undead battle reuniting him with Sildar and recovering Gundren’s map to Wave Echo Cave.
Wake the Sleeping: Pookie asked us to check out the sleeping guest and showed us a mysterious herb that he took which Draven recognized as maxwell’s beard. Maxwell was an almost unknown alchemist. He did minor discoveries but before he died he discovered this pipe stuffing herb. It is made from a very rare plant called Maxwell’s daughter, because he was the one who discovered it. It grows in mountainous regions and is a purple/dark blue color. The flower itself is very big and has a vivid red center. It is considered a magic pipe weed. To make it, find a Maxwell’s daughter and carefully remove the petals and cut them into fine pieces, usually with one flower you can make 3-4 stuffing. The plants bloom only in winter, so watch out. The taste reminds the smoker of fresh fruits of summer. When smoking, the person automatically feels happy. Dwarves and orcs cannot stand this pipe weed. Halflings rarely ever smoke it. This is the ALL TIME favorite of elves. Once the smoker has finished his pipe, he falls into a deep sleep. When he wakes up, he finds himself kind of strange and has trouble standing up or fighting for about an hour. Pookie told us we need a petal from a maxwell’s flower to make an antidote he thinks the herbal shop in Thundertree may still have some of those petals and he will need a whole flower. Pookie asked us to find one of these flowers and help him wake his guest. We found the flower in Thundertree and gave it to Pookie. The sleeping beauty was successfully revived.
Mirna’s Heirloom: Though her family has nothing to offer as a reward, Mirna the woodcarver’s wife told us that she might know where a valuable heirloom is hidden she wants us to have. When she was a young girl, she and her family fled from the town of Thundertree after undead overran the place. Her family had an herb and alchemy shop, inside which a case containing an emerald necklace was hidden beneath a section of storage shelves. She never dared to return and retrieve it. The shop was in the southeast part of Thundertree which just east of Neverwinter following the river. We recovered it and it is an Emerald obsidian amulet that reduces acid and poison damage to the bearer by half. Rowan currently has it.
Sister Garaele’s spellbook: Find the missing spellbook from the banshee Agatha, BoGentle’s spellbook. Sister Garaele offered to make us 3 healing potions to find the spellbook and deliver it to her and the party accepted the quest. She told us that the banshee lair is near Coneyberry ruins, and we should take the left trail up into her lair. She gave us a comb to give to Agatha to aid us in this quest. We gave her the information we got from Agatha and Sister Garaele gave us the healing potions. Agatha gave the spellbook to a necromancer named Tsernoth, and its current location is out in the ocean west of Waterdeep. She traded it to Tsernoth from the city of Iriaebor more than a hundred years ago.
Orcs of Wyvern Tor: “REWARD-Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within.” Phandalin townmaster Harbin Wester offered a reward of 100 gp to handle the orc problem at Wyvern Tor. To get there we should go northeast half way to Coneyberry ruins then straight east through the mountains to the orc base at Wyvern Tor.
Thunderdome: Important package: Upon hearing the party was going to Phandalin. The owner of the Thunderdome and Goliath paladin, Wes the Shield, wanted to test this group of adventurers to see if they were capable of protecting an important package he had waiting for him in Phandalin. He gave them all participant coins that they may compete in the Thunderdome competition. The party proved themselves in combat in front of a crown and got the job to bring this package from Barthen’s provisions in phandalen. It was a green dragon egg that hatched and immediately bonded to Gwen and is being raised by her.
Pookie’s Potions: The owner of the potion shop offered the party 10 glass vials to fill with any substances they might find on their journey. In return for this he would compensate them for the gathered materials and provide them a sample of the potions he is able to create with them. Update: the party found an interesting healing liquid in a potion golem in cragmaw hideout. Pookie was able to discover the secret of the liquid and brewed us a potion golem potion.
Gwen’s Secrets: The party met a little girl names Gwendalyn who was working at the Thunderdome taking tickets and recording bets. But during the proving ground matches she entered the competition and to the party’s surprise and bested one of the most skilled fighters of their group, displaying unusual martial ability for someone her age. Gwen told Rowen about her past and how she came to join Wes.
Redbrand Scourge: Rowan promised Phandalin townmaster Harbin Wester that we would rid his town of the Redbrand thugs. He gave us a reward of 250 gp for destroying the redbrands.
Sildar’s Request: Sildar offered the party 200gp to find out what happened to Iarno and to bring him or what is left of him back. Upon investigating, someone of Iarno’s description was said to have been seen in the company of the redbrands but the redbrands knew him as Glass-staff.
Thunderdome round 1, the Proving grounds: Upon hearing about a potential job offer if they could prove their combat prowess, the party fought valiantly in the Thunderdome vs a variety of skilled opponents. Showing their skill they earned themselves a bag of gold each for participating and entertaining the crowd. The party also earned the job to bring back Wes’s important package from Phandalin.
Meet Me in Phandalin: The characters were in the city of Neverwinter at Pookie’s Potions and Pillows inn when their dwarf patron, Gundren Rockseeker, hires them to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter,to attend to business in the town while the characters follow with the supplies. The characters were paid 15 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when they delivered the wagon safely to that trading post.
Goblin Ambush: Upon riding down the triboar trail the party discovered Gundren and Sildar’s Horses were slaughtered by goblins and they appeared to have been taken north to a cave. The goblins also tried to ambush the party but through keen perception the party spotted them and eliminated most of their ambush party. they left one goblin alive and interrogated them learning the following:
- There are Fewer than twenty goblins that currently dwell in the lair.
- Their leader is a bugbear named Klarg. He answers to King Grol, chief of the Cragmaw tribe, who dwells in Cragmaw Castle. (The goblins can provide basic directions to Cragmaw Castle. It’s about twenty miles northeast of the Cragmaw hideout, in Neverwinter Wood. The party never got this information from him).
- Klarg received a messenger goblin from King Grol a few days ago. The messenger told him that someone named the Black Spider was paying the Cragmaws to watch out for the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker, capture him, and send him anything he was carrying back to King Grol. Klarg followed his orders. Gundren was ambushed and taken along with his personal effects, including a map.
- The dwarf and his map were delivered to King Grol, as instructed. The dwarf’s human companion is being held in the “eating cave”.
The Party is actively searching for their mission patron Gundren and his bodyguard before it is too late. Update: The party raided Cragmaw hideout, killed Klarg, and located and rescued Sildar Hallwinter. Sildar wishes to return to Phandalin to meet his contact, Iarno Albrek, who may know where Cragmaw keep is. The party now believes this is where Gundren is being held due to his knowledge of the location of Wave Echo Cave.
